I am curious if I'm the only one this has affected. After eating, it has given me nausea and just a sick feeling where I don't want to try it again. I am not allergic to anything except maybe walnuts that I know of. Anyone else experience this phenomenon ? It was cleaned and filleted by a very experienced sturgeon fisherman.

I have not experienced getting sick but I have never heard of anyone cutting steaks. Always filets. Always. There is a certain way to clean and cut the fish.

There is a certain way to clean Sturgeon. If you do it right you get 2 nice filet's when your done. I have tried Sturgeon smoked, BBQ'ed and Deep fried in a awesome tempura batter with a hint of curry. I like it best deep fried with a cold beer.

A lot of the problems that people have with sturgeon is that it wasn't properly cleaned. The contents of the noto cord are extremely nasty and will foul everything it touches. Sturgeon, by far, isn't my favorite eating fish, but smoked or marinated and grilled its pretty darn good. The following link shows how to get it cleaned. Not pretty, but a darn good primer on sturgeon cleaning. http://www.getbentsportfishing.com/helpful/tips-and-tricks/cleaning-sturgeon/

Back to the original question, Has anyone else gotten sick from eating sturgeon that was prepared correctly? I have been told that, like some shark meat, there is a neurotoxin in the flesh that affects some people in a negative manner. To me it was mostly nausea directly after eating it. I just know I'm not going to eat it fresh again.

I just had it a couple weeks ago for the first time. I didnt get sick or anything, but I didnt enjoy it much either. The meat seemed to fiberus <sp?> and turned into an odd ball of mush in my mouth. I dont plan on having it again either.
