Washington Fish Quest Episode 2: Land-locked Coho Salmon

Thanks a ton to anyone who watched my first video! I was hoping for 100 views, and it's at 230 thanks to your support! (well, I think my Grandma watched it about 100 times on her own too, ha ha).

Here's the second episode of WA Fish Quest. I have a pretty rough time in a normally fairly easy fishery. Riffe Lake silvers at the Mossyrock Dam. The weather wasn't too nice.

Thanks a ton Quadfather! I am pretty camera shy, so the positive support is very much appreciated! I thought about doing a "next time of fish quest" at the end of each episode, but don't for two reasons. #1: Superstition. I'm afraid if I as soon as I call my shots I'll get skunked. #2: I might not be able to make it out of town as planned. So if I keep quiet I have bass, bluegill, rainbows, etc. as fallbacks.

If things go as planned though, I want to target a very big and flat fish in May (conditions permitting) and in June channel my efforts towards an eastside denizen with some real whiskers (gas money permitting, ha ha).

Check out Rose lake near lake Chelan for the whiskers. Also it is not as far as some Eastern WA. fisheries, so not as bad on the gas. There is a respectable catfish lake that is down in maybe Thurston County.. I have to think about what that was again?

The mouth of the Palouse over by the big town of Starbuck has lots of channel catfish in June. You will need a boat and motor to fish them.

I believe it was "Swofford Pond" in Thurston county. Do some research on that one.

Thanks Quadfather! I'll keep Roses as a backup if I can't afford to make it to Starbuck. I grew up in Lewis County and fished Swofford once or twice a year. It's an awesome place to fish, but I never did well for catfish there. Others I knew did though! There are big ones in there, but I just seemed to catch the dinks as a teenager. But on second though, if any of those dinks are still around, they'd be mighty big by now!

Thanks for the link to the other video. Makes me want to go to Westport. I was down at the mouth of the Palouse two weeks ago checking things out. I think there will be a catfish trip in my future this year.
