main line suggestions

I'll offer this up by itself, there was a thread a while back about line strength and specifically Floro. My WL search Foo seems to be lacking at the time so I offer up this link by itself:

There were a couple other tests that had to do with dry off the spool strength versus wetted strength. The wetted strengths would really suprise you. Most all lines (except braid) lost a considerable amout of strength when soaked and of course knotted. I'll keep looking for the wetted tests.

And this would supposedly be where the Fluoro's would take over (wet strength) since they by chemical design do not take on any water...

Not really, they all take on water but some are better than others. I still can't find the test, may have been on a now defunked web site. I do remember the Seaguar had the least deviation from the stated tensile strength. I can't remember the knotted bit but it was pretty close to the straight wetted results.

That is the main reason I also use braid when drift fishing is for the idiots who constantly cross your line... I fish some combat fisheries and 30 of us can be fishing fine untill 1 idiot comes in and doesn't wait to cast.... I just wait till they are over my line and set hard and saw them off every time.... If 30 people are in a line, they low river guy casts first and you kinda do the wave upstream.... Works untill you get an idiot in there.....

when you see guides using the hi viz main line its because 4 dudes on a 20 foot sled all drift fishing tend to tangle lines, the more visible the line the easier to stay clear of each other when casting and drifting.. thats actually what i was told one time fishing with a guide as well.. ever since then i stopped using hi viz line when fishing from shore by myself and my hookup rate increased.. i think it was a combination though of not using hi viz line and some new tricks i learned form the guide.

used Hivis for this reason also but for combat fishing. it helped me and the fish were stacked so I did not see less hook ups as the rest of the line. I used a low vis leader that's where it helps.

I use both mono and braided. I like the braided much better than mono when using ultra light and bait fishing, but mono on my med action spinning. With my ulta light the thing I hate the most, is when I'm botom fishing, its every snag I break off. ARG! Becuse of the super light line used 2-6pnd, But you can get 10-12pnd braided like thats just as thin and nible as 4, just havta worry about snaping the ultralight rod now, not that it happns to offten. When I'm using the med action 8pnd mono is my preferd choice. It prety much disapears in the water, and strong enough for any sport fish. When bait fishing on my Big heavy braided for sure, I have 30ibs on It now half the diameter of the 15ib mono it replaced,it lays in the water nicer, and I realy think it just looks like stick/twig or grass that the fish are used to anyways. As far as being able to see the line. I dont think i've ever cought a fish by watching my line, but by watching the rod and listening to the drag run, abd just feeling the strike. I would stay away from high vis

what do you guys do after you catch your fish? do you put it in a cooler or on a stringer? just wanna compare different methods and maybe upgrade lol

i steer clear of anything but big game. for kings and chums its 20 main 15 or 17 for leader, coho and steelhead ill go from 8-15 for mainline and 6-12 fo leader. depends on the viz where im fishing. sturgeon i run 100 powerpro then a 80 dacron leader. far as lakes 30 powerpro for everything

Only time I use a cooler is on a boat or back at my car, on the river bank I try to keep them alive as long as possible.. If I can't , I bleed them immediately.....

how do you keep them alive? cuz i want to keep some for food, but you how it is with only two arms and a load of stuff to bring lol, a cooler seems too big and cumbersome to carry around down to the river
