Stopped by the Tilton on the way home after a day out lookin for that buck,
Landed a few coho out of the gate drift fishing then quickly got tired of that so headed up river and worked are way through some of those holes behind the mill and slayed the jacks on eggs for a while (tryed x factor eggs with nothing to show for it) then started twitchin jigs since i read on here that fishfreak was doing well with 'em. That was a rush and a surprise didn't think I'd have much success with jigs but did get a couple bitters. Then back to drift fishin to end the day down with the locals to have a couple laughs. Landed this King there where TPU dumps one guy said he thought it went 30 but i don't know about that, pictures doesn't do it justice poor angle just tryin to get it back on its way.

On my way out to the coast, decided to take a detour through Puyallup and hit highway 7 into Morton. Man, I'm glad I did! They've been putting fall chinook into the Tilton for a while now, but recently started dropping in coho, which makes it worth my time. Lady and I started off floating roe under the bridge and hooked a couple of mini-jacks and two boot-ish kings. Too many nibbles from the bait steelers so we through some hardware and nymphed an egg patern under a floating line and got a couple more jacks.

Moved upstream to kill time and started fishing the dump. Not too many guys there. Yet ;) Hooked a lot of wild fish, coho and kings, I'd say probably about half of the fish in there right now are native, which makes for a fun fight, but gotta throw 'em back.

Highlight of the day was this MONSTER that tore through my line and ran straight upstream. For some reason I'd grabbed my steelhead rod instead of my heavier salmon setup, and was playing this on 10 pound line. Took a little bit longer to get him in, but didn't waste many anglers time because he stayed in the hole probably about 10 seconds before zipping up and out. After a delicate battle on my light rod, inevitably I won and got him landed, native so he went back, but will be my biggest king of the year. This thing had to be an easy 30, I could barely get my arm around it. It sure was bright and feisty too. But back he went after a good forward back revival.

I picked up some hatchery coho as well and brought one home for the food saver. It was a good day.

Float roe down under the bridge and in the swimming hole, but if you get up to the dump bring your dental kit. Lots more fish to be dumped, and I know the park will be jumping with guys soon. Be kind and courteous and we'll all catch our fish. River is a creek right now, low as low gets, but still it's a dandy old time!

Figured I'd try the Tilton with my first trip since I've been back. Long story short, no fish caught or even seen. I talked to a guy (I think the caretaker) who said they dumped yesterday, but they must have moved up.

I think I'm done driving over there for the year, time to look for some chum and steelhead.

Not red hot by any means but we caught a fair number of fish throughout the day. Only brought home one hatchery hen, all other fish released(too colored for my liking or natives). Definitely a ton of fun though. Some of those fish have broad shoulders and a wicked attitude. lol (gonna try to post a panorama pic with my report...hopefully it turns out.)

Since I'm flying back to Michigan on Wednesday for whitetail season I figured I'd get one more day of salmon fishing in before I had to get ready to leave.

I arrived at the Tilton a bit late, around 1130. I talked to a guy in the parking lot who said they didn't dump any fish on Sunday and they hadn't dumped any yet that day. After that long drive I had to give it a shot anyway. I walked to my favorite spot and fished for 45 minutes with nothing. Talked to a few guys who had been fishing upriver and said it was full of dark fish.

With this news I walked over to the swimming hole to see what there was. It was full of fish! As much as I hate fishing there, I figured I'd try throwing some spinners... no luck. In the mean time, the truck arrived for one load of fish at about 1230, so I figured I'd go back up to my spot and try it again. Still no luck.

At this point I'm getting desperate so I tried some fast water with a back eddy that looked like it could be holding some fish. Lucky guess. I left at 1630 with my limit of coho, some still pretty bright, some turning.

I'll be back in early December, hopefully they'll be some chum around or maybe I'll have to try WA steelhead fishing.
Tight lines!

Fished the tilton from about 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on friday. Ended up going 3 for 6 on coho. All fish landed were kept and all were hatchery fish of course. Biggest went 13 pounds(pictured) and the other two were 10 and 7 pounds. Nice day out there with only a few people in the park and i got to see some of my family from the area. Sure was cold though! Thanks again yooperfisher for the tips and i will have to give your spot another try someday. How did you guys do?

Decided to hit up the Tilton again after my luck on Sunday. I arrived around 1100 to find out the truck hadn't showed up yet and the rumor was that they were done dumping (if anyone has more info on this I'd be very appreciative). No worries though, I went to my secret spot and was into fish in short order.

The first 2 were very large buck silvers, with that dang extra fin. They were released un harmed. The next fish was a half rotten king that I didn't want to touch... Cut the line at the hook and watched him swim away. Things slowed down a bit after that, but I still lost many fish I would have loved to land, including one very bright hatchery hen silver. It spit the hook at the net. It wasn't until I was almost ready to leave that I finally got a hatchery silver into shore. I left at 1800 with a nice fish for the smoker.

I didn't see too many other people leave with fish. The people at the fish dump (snagging hole) looked very sad today, lol.
