Finally got the boat out of the driveway after putting new tires on the trailer 3 weeks ago. Started down highway 2 and noticed the trailer looked like it was pretty low on one side and I could hear a loud grinding noise. Just as I start to piece together what is going on the car next to me honk at me and yells at me to pull over. Luckily I was right before the Bickford exit to I was able to get off the highway and find a somewhat safe spot to change the tire which was destroyed after less than 5 miles of driving. Thanks again to the couple who yelled at me and were kind enough to stop and offer to help.
So after finally getting to the lake a little later than I was hoping for, I was finally ready to fish. Ran one rod with lead core line and a sling blade and koke a nut out 1 color. Flat lined the other rod with various combinations with no luck. In 2 hours of trolling managed 1 kokanee at 12.75 inches and 1 cutthroat at 11.5 inches, both on the koke a nut, before the hail started coming down. The dog was shivering so I decided to pack it up and head back to the boat launch. While driving through the no wake zone I saw lots of jumpers so I decided to tie on a chrome kastmaster and toss it out a couple of times before I made it to the boat launch. Hooked into a beauty of a rainbow on the 1st cast. It must have been a good 3.5 lbs and about 18-20 inches long. Fought it all the way to the boat before realizing I had already stashed the net into its little cubby so it doesn't fly out on the drive home. Took me too long to get it out and the fish jumped twice and got away. Bummer! By then the hail had stopped and the sun came out, so I fished around for another hour or so trying various combos with no more bites.
Slow day of fishing, I'm sure the 5 different kinds of weather I experienced just during my time on the water affected the bite, but all in all not bad. Any time I get to bring something home to eat I'm happy. There needs to be an option for "all of the above" when selecting the weather for this report :P

Well, today was a fun day. Took the opportunity to head on over to Roesiger to realize just how much I'd forgotten about trout and kokanee fishing! Who would have thought I'd struggle with the fish, with them rolling all round the boat and everything.
Well I wanted to get some of the rumored silvers hanging out in the lake, so I ignored all the trout on the finder as I motored out to some deeper water. My Pavati runs smooth and steady on the still water, plus it was very cofortable for Lady and I.
Marked a bunch of fish at 40 feet along the 60 foot edge over by the park, and had my first take there on a wedding ring and pop gear, vicious and of course it didn't stick and was gone by the time I got my rod out of the holder. This kept up all day. I had probably 7 or 8 chances on fish, but the ones that did stick fell off as I lifted them over the gunnel. Probably should bring a net next time. Oh well, it was a beautiful day out.
I did keep marking some very large looking fish right off the bottom at 40-70 feet that I'd like to find out what they are. Maybe sleeping largemouth? Carp? I'll investigate and let you know later. This is a beautiful lake!
I had the most takes in front of the park, and on the east side of the lake on the north end. As I came back in, a few boats were anchored up fishing for the freshly stocked planters and I saw a very nice triploid get caught. It was a great day for a day off, but now it's back to work on the rivers! Drop me a line if you'd like to get out and grab some steelhead, fishing on the Skookumchuck has been phenomenal! I couldn't help but put a picture of the nice fish we're catching. Some bright ones moving in.

It was an average day of fishing. I was working the shallow area in the middle of the 3rd lake. thought I was into a 4 or 5 lbs. bass. Got him in a little closer was shocked to see that it was a perch. He honestly fought Like a bass near twice his size.

Got to the boat ramp around 6:15 am. No one on the water at all. Inflated the boat and set it up with the new trolling motor. Four of us hopped in and headed to the "area". We had been there before and knew exactly where to go. Set anchor and started fishing with a basic hook and split shots with some worms. Immediately got a bite, then a second one, then a third. Boom. We were there for maybe 5 min and we already had 3 jumbo perch in the cooler. It slowed for about 15 min and then it was pretty much one after the other with dozens of doubles and even some triples at the same time. I lost track after about 45. Ended up keeping 22 perch and 5 rainbows ( and that's just cause our cooler wouldn't fit anymore!). Never once got hung up. Good friends, good times, good fish! Pretty awesome time! This is now twice that we have been there and caught tons of perch.

Headed out to Roesiger Saturday morning. Arrived just before sunrise and was the only one in the lot, nice... Water was like glass and pretty clear so I started with a craw pattern shallow crankbait which produced two LMB in the first 5 minutes. The one in the pic was just over 1lb. and pretty healthy looking. Stuck with a crankbait most of the day with some variation in color/presentation. The rainbow hammered the crankbait and put up a real good fight. Missed a couple more hookups later in the morning. One miss was when my line just barely got hung up on the corner of a dock and while I was trying to flip the line off the strike came. I didn't get a good hookset and lost it about half way in. Felt like a decent fish, maybe a little bigger then the one earlier. A pause/twitch seemed to be more productive than a steady retrieve today.
Good day on the lake overall. No waterskiers either...

Started out at around 10 AM and cruised around in my float tube. Kept getting a lot of 8 inch bass and small perch and pumpkinseeds. After catchin about 15 small non-keepers I finally got into some LARGE Perch. Between 10-13 inches. Ended up just going back and forth along a weedbed I had found and pulled out 36 nice perch. I only fished for 5 hours so considering that most the perch in Western Washington are small and ran out by bass and trout overall it was a pretty great day. These will be good for the next fish fry.

Fished Lake Roesiger this afternoon and caught several w my wife. We started at the park but no success so paddled out In our 3 man raft to the nearby cove mainly. I was using power bait and my wife switched to worms but nothing. Then a guy told us he caught some using worm basically along the buoy lines and so we focused on that area and caught a couple with worms about 20 feet of line or so. They were probably twelve inches or so. On way back caught a little guy on worm as well. A lot of fun and good way to pass a Summer afternoon.

My buddies cousin caught a 8.3 lbs largemouth within 30 seconds we there on a senko. I caught a 2.6 lbs on a top water pop-R and boy did he put up a fight. The 8.3 pounder didnt put up any fight. But man what a catch! Thats pretty damn big for western WA standards in my mind. After that fishing was slow. All bass caught and released. We where dock hoping one after another and had a few followers on the pop-R after I caught the 2.6. What a nice day for being out on the lake. Heading to Banks lake on sunday. Can't wait!!

Was the first guy on the lake in my float tube. Started off the morning on the south lake and floated the shoreline to the narrows. Hit a few perch right by the boat launch. About 10 inches (ok perch). Got right to the mouth of the narrows and pulled out about 15 more perch around 10-13 inches. Not too bad of a day. Overall took home 27 plus a couple trout and sunfish. The first time I went to roesiger I couldn't keep the trout off my line but that because they would eat a dog turd on a hook. Luckily I weighted my line down to the bottom to pull up the perch. Looking forward to the fish fry.
