Started fishing at 6am, docks, logs, weedlines, drop offs, throwing 3 different lures with no luck, just a few tugs from little guys trying to eat a brush hog. Minnows all over flipping on top. Water skiers started at 8am. Did see some shady looking characters in the brush.

Hit mason for a boat checkout/fishing, did the test runs and then fished, heard there were perch by simpson camp but went down there and tried everything under the sun for them, no joy. Trolled looking for what ever and got one trout on up to the boat and he self released. Threw out some bass gear by the logs and shore line and down deep no joy. Water temp is still at 45 on whole lake. Another mont i figure before it gets going.

Hit Mason in the late afternoon, left at dark. Battled the fierce winds and wakes to find very little for fishing action. Pitched jigs to docks, dropshotted junebug plastics and gulp minnows along with some spinnerbait and clackin crank action. I even tried a carolina rig with no luck. I ended up nabbin a few rockbass on the dropshot, and one big ugly squaw on the crank at sundown. My buddy Travis on the other hand landed the only bass of the day on a dropshot (snot colored sniper snub). I was very happy for him but bummed I didnt get one. We didn't get a weight because he dropped it and it slithered off the boat... I really need to teach him to hold them better! Tight lines all!

Hit Mason Lake today for the first time in awhile. Cruised around several spots throwin' jigs, brush hogs, cranks, and even a swimbait (I think I got a bite on the swimmer?). Saw about 6 bass in several spots, a few under docks that we spooked and a couple pigs out cruisin in the barren flats. Fishing just out from the finger by the launch and my backseater tossed his brown red flecked jig out to a weedline in about 10 feet of water and FISH ON! His first LMB of 2011 and a pig at that, 4 lbs 11oz. Nothin for me but you couldn't beat the smile on his face and the excitement on the boat from there on out. Mason still looks pretty dead vegetation wise and there was a lot of algae everywhere. Tight Lines all!

fished all afternoon, only seen a perch, lots of very little trout (smolt) near the top, but no fish worth keeping, seems like this lake is only good when it warms up more.

Went to Mason today beens all the boats wouldn't be out and it was overcast, thinking that it would bring the fish up. The guy who works at the Mason County park ramp informed me that they would be closing the ramp for repairs either Tuesday or Wednesday. We went out and started throwing roostertails and caught serval small bass, some yellow perch. It was a good day even though we got a little wet.

Went out to Mason County this afternoon.Started throwing some small crankbaits around boat docks. On the second cast with a blue and chrome rattle trap caught a nice 17 in largemouth. We caught some more small ones and a black and crome shallow running crankbait. Before we switched to fishing for some yellow perch.

Went to mason lake for the family picnic today. Decided I'd whip the fly around for a little bit. Started out with a nymph and didn't get much action. Switched to a wooly bugger and let it sink a little (water was pretty clear) and nailed a perch on the second cast (c&r). A few casts later nailed a decent sized squawfish. Put up a good fight for a squaw. C&R also. Had a good time and caught some fish. All in all, not too bad. (wishin' I was on the skok instead though...).

spent a couple days at the simpson lumber campground at the south end of the lake this weekend. didn't get any trout. got a few bass strikes but no dice. i was using a rattlin rapala and a rapala countdown.lost my countdown off the boat while i was tying it. that sucked.realed in a little sunfish that was about the same size as my lure. that was strange. good young kids lake put a worm on a hook and cast and you have a perch or sunfish or squawfish on. i know people have been taken eight pound bass outta there so ill be back. lines tight and good luck.

This is more of a what I saw on the lake report than a fishing report. Went out to test run my boat I jus t replaced stringers and deck in and her is what I saw going on at mason. The boat launch is 100% horrible, watch your trailer tires or you will cut one under the water, but there is a trailer parked at the restroom area because a company has been contracted to do alot of work to widend the road to the launch, improve the launch and make the "county park" bigger...thank god. Once on the lake we motored out slow to the mouth from the launch and there was a guy fishing the docks and pulling up a 5 lb large mouth...water temp was 51. So the big boys are there he said he had been at it for a while but it made me feel good to actually see a big bass in mason...I'll be out soon casting for myself. Good luck all.
