Went after crappies with Rob this morning. Fishing was slow at first, not many hits and the fish caught were small. We decided to fish deeper water and that was the trick. Brought home 30, the crappies were 8" to 11".

Got out for a few hours checking out the panfish action! Used several small jig offerings and had fast action for 2 hrs catching 3 doz decent gills to 8" and some nice Crappie to 11". Did not take any home. The gills should be picking up on all the ponds as the weather stays good.

Kinda same ole' same ole, but better. 116 or 117 crappie, 8 perch, 7 bass, 5 bluegill, a trout, and a little catfish. Fished 3 ponds, with pond 1 being best today, at least for the bass. No giants, crappie to 11" bass to 16". Jigs and plastics all around.

So, had one of my big dogs die, moved my mom-in-law in Oregon, my wife was sick, and I bought a new pickup. Needed stress relief. Fishing=Stress relief, therefore...
Went to 3 ponds, and caught 37 crappie, all on newly designed lures. Haven't even named them. 2 decent perch, and a number of puny bluegill. Most crappie 10-11 inches, but one went a little over 2 lbs. My I-phone camera refused to function, kept turning itself off, so I didn't get to take pix of fish or pickup, which didn't please my wife, since I don't get the pickup till they put in the bedliner. Said she's seen big crappie before. Oh, caught 4 trout, all about 12-14". They can be annoying, but still more fun than an empty line. Wasn't bad for bank fishing, but the wind finally drove me off. Couldn't feel the bites.
One guy at Pond 6 was beating the grass with a stick, so I checked it out. He was pounding on a poor snake, about 2' long. I mentioned they help keep the rodent population down, but he didn't really care, just kept whacking the poor dead snake, because it was TWITCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sigh...

The I 82 ponds as well as Fio Rito by Ellensburg have been producing some awesome crappie fishing when the weather and water clarity allows. Pond 6, pond 4 have been the best of the I 82's with pond 5 surging from time to time. I have been slaying the crappie by hitting the peak lunar times and when the inclement weather allows. Alternating my custom jigs between tight lining and slip bobber, I have put well over 400 crappie on the bank this spring, with some real slabs in the mix. I hope this good fishing holds so Walakes administrator Mike Carey and I can film a crappie fishing how to video, possibly on the I 82's sometime next week. Both slabs and bass have been hitting Berkely Gulp minnows and the fishing should get better as the water warms. I have a very productive selection of custom crappie nymphs so feel free to Email me if you'd like to try them out. Good luck, the Jigster

Well, I got out to hit the I82 ponds today with my walakes buddy Jason Sappenfield aka: Tanner212 and took advantage of the crappie moving up shallower to stage for the spawn. The action was fast for a bit as we hit some slabs to 11.5" throwing our custom jigs and Berkley minnows for pretty aggressive fish. We had a number of good sized yellow perch in the mix as the panfish success is looking to be on the up and up for the rest of the spring as water temps warm up. Good luck brothers and fee free to contact me about my custom made crappie jigs. Tight lines Jiggy

Well, went back over to the I82 ponds to try for some crappie. It was slow slow slow for crappie caught lots of small bass though. Fished from 3:00 to dark, tried jigs of all colors and sizes, finally at about 7:30 I put on a small lipless crank bait and hit some crappie landed 4 lost a few more at the bank. All in all it was fun caught a few fish but had to work for the crappie. Good luck guys, God Bless.
