Caught 7 Walleye between 3pm and 7pm at the mouth of the Colville today. They were not anything super special, 14" to 18" but they sure tasted good for dinner! Great day catching my first two Walleye, my buddy caught the other 5! So a great day by all!

Worked in Chawelah today so I stopped at the Colville River on the way home for about an hour. No fish, no bites and no 27'' monster brown today. I headed out and thought I would go for a walk to try to find a Morel. No luck there either. Did find some other choice mushrooms though.

After Waits Lakes dismal performance we headed down to the Colville River to give it a shot because, we knew this little river should be hitting anytime. We got there at about 6:30 I grabbed my fly rod my buddie grabbed his 9' lightwieght spinning rod.

I used a Rainbow pattern steamer and he drifted a whole nightcrawler w/ a single BB split shot. I hit the first fish, first cast at the mouth of a adjoining creek, a nice 16'' Brown. Than I whent down stream to a whole about 30yrds down stream and hooked up a 12'' brown.

My buddie on the other hand didn't get anything at first, decided to walk his set up down stream with him, he got about a hundred yrds down from me and yeld "fish on, big fish on". I had to run up to the truck to get the net. He played that fish for a while when we finally brought it in it was a 27 and a half inch hooked-jawed-big-shoulder of a fish. We have caught a lot of big fish in this little river.

Yes he kept the fish I couldn't talk him out of it. We left right a way, he had to go and show off his fish to other friends and his family. Well ther are lots of other big Browns in there I know when I was a teenager I kept my fish and it seemed to have alot more big fish in it back in the late 80s.

We actually fished the northern region of Big Sheep Creek. Hit the water about 7:30 a.m. since it was a 2 1/2 hr. drive from Spokane. I have to say its a very beautiful area. Some nice deep holes about 4-5 ft. deep which I caught two 11 inch rainbows out of. Now my brother caught two 9 in. brookies out of the same holes. Go figure? Anyways we also spotted a border patrol officer several times on the road. We asked him how the fishing was and he said most said its down this year. I assume due to the low flow. It was in the low 90's by noon so we took off . On the way out We stopped by a small Micro brew in Nortport and had one of the best coldest beers I've had in my life as a reward for a fine day fishing. Hope to be back next year on opening day with better water flow.
