KI

Lake Ki is located NW of Marysville in Snohomish County. The lake is about
100 acres in size and has houses or cabins located around most of the
shoreline. There is a WDFW gravel boat launch at the North end of the lake.
The launch is right next to a somewhat busy highway, Highway 531. The launch
is sectioned into 2 launch areas. The section to the West is best for car top
boats or truck bed launched boats. The East section can handle a 16 foot boat
if you have a 4 x 4 or a fair amount of lift on your truck. There are also
tree roots right in the middle of the East section of the launch. There is
not a lot of parking available near the launch. Those first on the lake park
their vehicles and trailers on the North side of Highway 531.

Fishing this lake on opening day can be an exercise in patience to get your
boat launched and vehicle parked. This is a fairly popular lake to fish on
opening day. You will notice that a majority of the boats will be found
around the Northeastern or Eastern part of the lake. Each time I've been out
and had the fish finder on, that is where I've seen the greatest
concentrations of fish. As the days get warmer and the water gets warmer,
the fish seem to like the deeper water found near the East side of the lake.
Also, as the water gets warmer, there seems to be more people at the boat
launch swimming and playing with pool toys, or even just laying out in the
sun right on the launch area. My experience with fishing on Lake Ki has been
that the rainbow trout are nice sized(11" to 16 1/2"), that they fight hard,
and that they have good color inside and out. I've caught fish and seen
others catch fish using Pop Gear with worms, Rooster Tails, and Powerbait.
