PARK

By Susan Emerson

Park lake is one of several beautiful lakes in the Sun Lakes area. It is 341 acres. The northeastern third of the lake is part of Sun Lakes State Park. The lake holds rainbow and brown trout. There is a resort and public boat launch on the north end of the lake. Fishing around the island (in the picture of the lake) is very productive using worms. I did well trolling a Mepps feathered spinner. Good shore fishing can be found anywhere on the lake. The lake can get very windy as do most lakes in this area.

Directions are as follows: - I 90 to Hwy 283 north just past the town of George - Hwy 283 to Hwy 28, go thru Ephrata to Soap Lake - Hwy 17 north to Park Lake (toward Grand Coulee Dam).

Park lake is one of many top rated destinations in Grant county. For anglers living on the west side of the state, the journey over the Cascade mountains can yield sunny skies and full stringers while the clouds dull the spirits over Puget Sound.
